Scoping Study for diatomite deposits in Zambia started

In July 2012, Spectra Mining Ventures Limited from Lusaka, Zambia, commisioned Anzaplan to evaluate diatomite samples from Zambia for high value applications in the filtration and paints industries. Zambia is very well explored for its copper in the Copperbelt Province. Deposits of diatomite and bentonite were discovered in the Mongu area of the Western Province by Spectra Mining Ventures Limited, in 1996.

During the visit of Spectra Mining Ventures Limited’s management to Anzaplan’s facilities in February 2013, the results of the Basic Analysis were discussed.

Due to encouraging results from advanced processing tests and analyses Spectra Mining Ventures Limited decided to continue its diatomite project. The Scoping Study to be prepared by Anzaplan will be the first multi-discipline study of the Mongu diatomite region covering major aspects of a possible industrial development including evaluation of a preliminary processing, economics and marketing scenario.
