Thermal processes are integral part of the beneficiation of strategic minerals such as high purity quartz, lithium minerals, rare earth minerals or graphite. ANZAPLAN develops thermal processes for beneficiation of strategic minerals at temperatures up to 2000°C.
This white paper describes the different thermal processing steps commonly applied during the beneficiation of strategic minerals including results from ANZAPLAN’s bench and technical scale projects. Beside the well known REE deposit types of carbonatites (bastnaesite and monazite) and alluvial deposits (monazite), peralkaline complexes are of high interest in REE exploration. Eudialyte is a red, magenta or brown colored mineral and one of the most significant ore minerals occurring in a peralkaline environment.
