ANZAPLAN producing 10kg of Battery Grade Lithium Carbonate in its pilot plant

ANZAPLAN is proud to announce that it has recently successfully completed the production of a 10 kg bulk sample of battery grade lithium carbonate for a client in its in-house hydrometallurgical pilot plant facilities.

A bulk sample of spodumene mineral concentrate was calcined thereby transforming alpha-spodumene into the beta-spodumene phase amenable to the hydrometallurgical extraction. In the subsequent acid baking and leaching, lithium was extracted from the calcine yielding a pregnant leach solution (PLS).

The PLS was then subjected to a sequence of processing steps including neutralization, Ca precipitation, ion exchange, concentration, precipitation of crude lithium carbonate and bicarbonation to obtain a refined lithium carbonate product. The final lithium carbonate product was analyzed and demonstrated to be of battery grade quality. This marks a milestone in the project.

Once again, ANZAPLAN is pleased to serve its clients as a competent partner in processing raw materials into highly refined products based on its extensive processing know how and knowledge of market requirements putting our clients one step ahead by enabling them to provide bulk samples of battery grade products to their endcustomers for technical approval.
